How to become an athletic trainer

Athletic trainers are certified professionals who provide hands-on care for injuries and medical conditions.

They play a vital role in helping people – usually athletes – stay active and well.

To become an athletic trainer, you need to hold a master’s degree from an accredited program and pass the Board of Certification (BOC) exam.

Our accredited program has a great track record for the BOC exam.

Where do athletic trainers work?

After passing the BOC exam and becoming licensed (in most states), you can immediately begin working as a certified athletic trainer.

Our graduates have found employment in the following areas:

  • College athletic programs
  • High school athletic programs
  • Hospitals
  • Sport rehabilitation clinics
  • Physician practice
  • Military
  • Industrial settings
  • Film and television
  • Performing arts

While in the program, you’ll have the ability to build a professional network. Meeting current athletic trainers and exploring professional organizations can give you more job leads.
